Day 8, 9, 10, February 1, 2, 3, 2025

Playa Herradura, Costa Rica

An early morning start needed an alarm. We had to move up our departure because our visit to the National Theater was moved up because the President of Costa Rica was going to be at a function there in the afternoon. The theater was absolutely stunning. Even Patrick enjoyed the tour. After the tour, a group of us went to lunch at Spoon. It was interesting, since everything was in Spanish. We did OK. Then we toured the Gold Museum. Also, it was very interesting. On our way back to the Hacienda Belen, we stopped at roadside fruit stand.

famous painting on the ceiling. Done by an Italian artist, so many inconsistencies that there were many people upset with the depiction. Once explained that the artist took all the points and included them in the painting.

Back to our first hotel for a farewell dinner. I’ve included some various pictures of the trip that I’m not exactly sure where they were taken. It’s been a wonderful trip. Excellent hotels, excursions, meals, tour guide Ozzy and bus driver, Alvaro (Cholo). Once back at the Hacienda, we rested, swam and then had our farewell dinner. A few couples were spending and extra night, some two nights and Pat & I were staying 3 nights. The resort was very enjoyable and Pat gave me an early Valentine gift — a spa afternoon. A chocolate wrap and my hair done. Best gift ever. In our three days, we actually had our breakfast and dinners in the Executive Lounge. It was unexpected and amazing. Full breakfast with fresh waffles and an omelet station. Dinners with 3 choices, salad bar, soup and desserts. I can’t recommend Collette Tours and Marriott properties enough !!!!

Lemon martini before the farwell dinner
Service dog in the lounge. Thought of Rocky (Chloe & Jacob)
Alvaro or lovingly called Cholo. He is an amazing driver who navigated roads I would not want to drive in a small car. A driver like him is a blessing.
Second pool
Beautiful butterfly
our visitor, a tropical Mockingbird, at our window. Came to visit often.
Nighttime view from a sitting area
Hasta luego mi amigo. Osvaldo Padilla. Ozzy. An amazing Naturalist. Outstanding tour manager. Wonderful human being. And any other superlatives you can think of.
